Stillness ("the App") is a digital detox application for Android. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

Account information (only if you create an account):

Email address
Display name
Username

App usage data:

Detox session durations and timestamps (stored locally on your device)
Circle connections (mutual friend links, stored in Firebase if you have an account)
Detox status visibility preferences

Data we do NOT collect:

Contacts or phone numbers (emergency contacts are stored only on your device)
Call logs, messages, or notification content
Location data
Browsing history
Photos, files, or media

2. How We Use Your Data

Account management: To let you sign in and sync your circle across devices.
Social Circle: To show mutual connections your real-time detox status (if you enable this in settings).
Push notifications: Firebase Cloud Messaging token is stored to deliver circle-related notifications. You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time.

3. Offline-First Design

Stillness works fully without an account. All core detox functionality (timer, phone locking, call silencing, emergency access) operates entirely on your device with no network connection required. Creating an account is optional and only needed for the Social Circle feature.

4. Third-Party Services

If you create an account, the App uses the following Firebase services by Google:

Firebase Authentication: Manages your account securely.
Cloud Firestore: Stores your profile and circle connections.
Firebase Cloud Messaging: Delivers push notifications.

These services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone. Your data is only used to provide App functionality as described above. The one case in which your information is shared beyond the App is the Public Status Link described in section 6, and that sharing only ever happens because you chose to turn it on.

6. Public Status Link

You can choose to create a public status link from Settings. When you turn it on, anyone who has the link can see your display name and whether you are currently in a detox session, without installing the App or signing in. If you have enabled "show time remaining", the link also shows your session's approximate end time.

The link is off by default. No other information is published — not your email address, username, session history, or circle. We do not collect any information about people who open the link. You can turn the link off or replace it with a new one at any time from Settings; the previous link stops working immediately.

Because anyone holding the link can view it, share it only with people you trust.

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account exists. Session history is stored locally on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App.

8. Your Rights

You can:

View your data: Your profile and circle are visible in the App.
Delete your account: Contact us at the email below, and we will delete your account and all associated data from our servers within 30 days.
Revoke permissions: You can revoke any App permission at any time through your device settings.
Uninstall: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

9. Children's Privacy

Stillness is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Security

We use industry-standard security measures provided by Firebase to protect your data. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
